■ Okushiri island

　　　　The southwest part of Hokkaido, the island and the Okushiri island floating on the Sea of Japan.

　　　　Attention is the coastline of the complicated rocks which consist of granites, and abundant delicacies from the sea on 11 km of east and west, and the longwise island of 27 km of north and south.

▼Attention Part 2 ..."Transmission fear of the Tsunami and its lessons"

　　　The southern Aonae area suffered the damage of the Tsunami by the offing earthquake of the Hokkaido southwest which occurred on July 12, 1993 (Heisei 5),
　　　We sacrificed many victims, and the area also changed into the annihilation state.

　　　Since the okushiri-cho is to convey to future generations the lessons of the Tsunami ,cenotaph "Jikusho" was built in the town.

　　　　In this institution, We have achieved the duty important as a schoolbook existence which primary-schools-and-junior-and-senior-high-schools students including the disaster prevention persons involved in a country or cities, towns and villages, etc. visit like an every year, and we study about the fear of a Tsumani, the state of daily refuge, etc. Moreover, We also have the situation of revival of the disaster shopfloor in Okushiri seen.

▼Attention Part 3 ..."Specialty abalone hunting" experience

- "Abalone"

　　　　The No.1 of the "delicacies from the sea" of an island is an "abalone." The abalone in which the body which grew up in the Sea of Japan became tight is hard to chew, and a rare object of art.

　　　　 At the Aonae fishing port, We make a net-pen in port and are performing "abalone hunting experience (end of April - the end of October)" which takes a ship for a tourist and lands an abalone. the abalone which We can take and build -- the spot -- sliced raw fish -- We have you broiling and eating and are collecting the tourist's popularity.

▼Attention Part 4 ...A gourmet "hometown foods and Sanpei soup"

　　　　As an original gourmet of Okushiri, the hometown foods "Sanpei soup" to which an island is said as the originator are known, and ingredients are a fishs and vegetables. The Sanpei-soup is treated to the visitors every year in the case of an island-opening on May 1.

- "Footpath"

　　　　We have prepared three attractive footpath courses, such as a course which walks along it and turns around between woods, such as a course, a beech forest, etc. where we walk along a seashore zone, in the island. The time of a calm island flows by observation of bird watching and animals and plants.

- "The Okushiri moonlight marathon"

　　　　On the Okushiri island, if we will have you enjoy marathon taking advantage of strong points, We like also have delicacies from the sea, such as that the fishing fire of twilight of a cuttlefish fishery can be seen on an unparalleled view, and also an abalone, eaten, looking at these points, We will carry out the "Okushiri moonlight marathon." We mention island, such as a student of the Okushiri high school, to this, and welcome a participant.
