In the lake Akkeshi which was a fishing place of the oyster, there is
a crescent type insula once called "the oyster insula (an original
name is Bentenjima)" which was able to pile up and do the oyster,
and fishermen have built and respected the guardian deity and the goddess
of eloquence、and Benten- shrine on this insula.
Then, an insula becomes small by ground subsidence and it seems to appear
into a lake.

The nature hidden scenic spot is located in Akkeshi-cho. There are a
Bekanbeushi-wetland and connected with the lake Akkeshi. "
The lake Akkeshi and the Bekanbeushi-wetland" became the Record
paludal of the Ramsar Convention aiming at an asylum of a waterfowl in
Heisei 5.
This wetland is made from the wetland of a low layer and upper layers,
and distribution of a plant has the feature, and also it is an attractive
wetland at which a Japanese crane and a whooper swan drop in.
In this side, the "Bekanbeushi-wetland"、
back is the "Lake Akkeshi."
