 "Kikonai-town where sailing ship Kanrin-maru of the end of Edo period sleep"


■ Kikonai-cho

    The town and Kikonai-cho at which it is located in southwestern Hokkaido and the Hokkaido Shinkansen stops.

   People who come from Hakodate are the towns of the important place of the trafic which leads in the direction of Esashi-cho with the direction of Matsumae-cho with the Matsumae castle, or the old history in which the "kitamaebune-ship" departed and arrived once.

    Kikonai-cho is known as a town which We got blocked 1 page of history of the end of Edo Period, and became "a ground of the last moment of Kanrin-maru."

▼Charm Part 2... Extremely cold "Kanchu Misogi Ritual(Festival)"

In Kikonai-cho, the shinto ritual of the tradition which will continue in about 200 years is inherited. It is the "Kanchu Misogi" of the Samegawa-shrine performed to one midmonth of the every year extremely cold.

    Four local young men do water ablutions in a bottom belt figure and purify the body, it is an event which dive into the sea with the object of worship, and purifies the object of worship. It is said that this shrine ritual prays for a good harvest or a bumper fish crop, and is performed.

Locally, We perform "Kanchu Misogi" by the name of a "Kanchu Misogi Festival" for three days from January 13th to the 15th every year, and are crowded with the spectator of many of deep faith.

▼Charm Part 3... It is "Hotate Aburi Bowl(Broiled Scallops Bowl)" when visiting a gourmet "Kikonai town.

According to commencement of business of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, Kikonai seamount bowl - "Broiled Scallops Bowl" was developed on the town-basis newly as a "Kikonai this place gourmet" using the delicacies from the sea and delicacies from the mountains from Kikonai.

    It is the combination meal of four points which attached the garnish, the soup, and the scent thing to "Broiled Scallops Bowl" puffily summarized by soft rice-"Fukkurinko" that rice should cook juicy "scallop" which can be taken in the sea with a green pepper or a tomato, and should cook color up by the product from South Hokkaido mainly.

    We hear that the eating place of seven houses of the Kikonai neighborhood participates and provides, and comes out, and We can enjoy "Broiled Scallops Bowl" using the specialty of each store from which a vessel is also different.
"Broiled Scallops Bowl" serves as including tax [ common to each store / of 950 yen ].
